Our Founder's Story
My name is Shazaib, I started Midhana based on a simple need: I wanted an elegant, reliable way to be notified of prayer times in my home without depending on smartphone apps or complex devices.
As a software engineer with a passion for both technology and Islam, I found myself frustrated with existing solutions. Most were either smartphone-dependent, unable to provide software updates after purchase, or simply weren't reliable enough for something as important as prayer times.
After months of experimenting with Raspberry Pi boards during evenings and weekends, combining existing open-source tools with a simple interface, the first prototype of Midhana was born in my home office.
The Journey
The Idea
It started with a simple question: "Why isn't there a simple, reliable device for prayer times that just always works?" This led to research into existing prayer time solutions and affordable hardware options.
Development
The first prototypes were built using Raspberry Pi Zero W computers, combined with reliable prayer time software. Each version I built focused on simplicity and improving the user experience.
Refinement
After sharing early models with friends and family, I collected feedback and refined the product. The end result, a device you can purchase once and use forever, with over the air updates, so that we can keep improving the product for you.
